A new, responsive web design for Oxford Diocese
By the time we pitched for a new, responsive website for the Diocese of Oxford, we had carried out over 40 (printed) design projects for them. So we really new their brand (in fact we designed their biggest brand ourselves, on which this new responsive web design was based).
Web-based design and paper-based designs obviously share some characteristics, but they also have some very important differences:
- People read a lot less on the web. In fact, they don't read, they 'scan'. So on the web you need to be short and to the point.
- The keep-it-simple principle should be the primary objective of web design.
- As with print, white space is very important in leading the eye.
- And finally, don't make users think. In fact these days the mantra is increasingly don't make users click more than they need to.
If we have designed printed matter for you in the past, we're in an excellent position to work on your new website. Do get in touch.
