Church of England Weddings site win
10th February 2015
Following on from our success with the Church of England Christenings website and the Church of England Funerals website, as well as the Church of England Church Support Hub website, we are extremely pleased to have been asked to redesign and build a brand-new weddings website for the Church of England.
As a design agency known for it's fully responsive web design in Birmingham, we are extremely pleased to have won this national site. Roughly 25% of all weddings in the UK are held in Church of England churches, so the traffic through this site will be huge.
The Church of England national weddings website already exists, but is in urgent need of a redesign and rebuild. The site currently has very high visitor volumes – anyone getting married with the Church of England in the UK will use this site – and the challenge is to build something that will ‘hold’ the average visitor for longer, and be fully accessible and optimised for every conceivable device and screen size.
The design we are working on is a hybrid between a very modern Pinterest-style scrolling site, where everything that’s on the site is findable from the homepage, and a more traditional site that guides a user through various levels to deliver useful content. The site will also make very good use of ‘search’ to enable visitors to quickly find whatever they are looking for.
One of the most popular items on the current site is the ability to choose (and listen to as well as to see the lyrics of) wedding hymns. However, the technology currently in use does not work on all devices. The new site will allow anyone, on any device, to select, listen to and read the lyrics of all the popular wedding hymns.
The site will also contain an interactive wedding planner, allowing anyone to print off a paper copy of their own, unique wedding plan to help them prepare for their big day.
The site is expected to go live in October.
