Brochure design for Saïd Business School,
part of Oxford University
We were very pleased when we - a graphic design agency Birmingham - won this work for Oxford University. They've been great to work for, and a great client to have.
Brochure design
Just when you thought the printed brochure was going the way of the dodo, it makes a come-back. Like all printed material, there’s something special about being able to hold a designed, printed brochure in your hand and turn actual pages, instead of all this ubiquitous digital stuff. Not that we’re against digital of course - there’s a time and place for it all. There’s a great line in the recent Ikea catalogue ad – ‘the navigation is based on tactile touch technology, which you can actually feel’. Genius.
When we design a brochure, we begin by reading your material - the words that are going to go in to the brochure. Sounds obvious, but you’d be surprised how many designers don’t. And after that the creativity begins. We’re after a style, an image, an icon, that captures the essence of what you’re trying to get across.
As you can see from the many examples on this site, we’re lovers of clean, contemporary design, Simple, yet effective design, gorgeous colours, and lots of white space. The temptation is always there to fill the white space, to maximise the bang for your buck, but actually that white space is really important. It serves to draw your eye to what’s important on the page. Fill the white space up and your eye doesn’t know where to look.
Printed brochures are also a great way of assisting your online work. They can seriously enhance your brand (and don’t think that if you’re not a big corporation you don’t have a ‘brand’ - every organisation has a brand), and they can drive traffic to your website by reaching people that would otherwise never find your site.
So ask us about designing a brochure for you. We’re very approachable, and promise not use graphic designer jargon…
